LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
Today, Tallyho continues its tradition and stands two exceptional stallions at stud.
The breeding ideals of performance without compromise are still central to the studs success.
Established in 1974, Tallyho Trakehners was founded to produce althletic competition horses that are sound, sensible and stunning to look at!
in 1974 Stud Founders Robyn and Ken Sonter embarked on a European tour in search of a stallion suitable to build the Tallyho dream.
In 1975 the outstanding stallion Kaliber (pictured above) arrived on Australian shores from Germany thanks to the help of the Wahler family, Klosterhoff; and with his arrival, Tallyho Trakeherners was born.
The following year, Kaliber was joined by two purebred Trakehner mares , Vision and Mira VIII also imported from Germany through the Wahler family.
The resulting progeny from the foundation bloodstock were of excellent quality and in 1985, Tallyho was again searching for an outstanding sire to join with the stud's Kaliber progeny. The stunning black stallion Korritt (pictured right) arrived from Germany the same year, aswell as two carefully selected Throughbred mares from England.
The Kaliber/Korritt cross proved to be an ideal combination, and the Tallyho horses have improved with each generation.
Since its formation in 1974, Tallyho has breed countless performance horses that have succeeded at the elite levels of the olympic sports including producing a number of breeding stallions including Tallyho Mandrake, Tallyho Kahlua, Tallyho Jupiter, Tallyho Something Spicey and Widgee Park Total Eclipse.
Today the Stud is still managed by mother-daughter team Robyn Smith and Adora Roberts-Taylor aswell as Adora's husband Bill Taylor in the Mid North Coast of NSW.
